I woke up late today because I accidentally gave myself food poisoning somehow last night. So that was fun.

FedEx tracker estimates my drop of for before 12:40 in this screenshot.

I saw a notification that my order from Best Buy was out for delivery. I’m gonna start studying for certifications at work so I can get paid more so I ordered an iPad because that was always by best study setup in college.

Nothing fancy. Truly just the base model without any hopes of some new semi-sentient Siri or whatever they’re about to announce from the Google partnership.

    It is blue, though. 😀

So I’m writing about waiting on a package to distract me from waiting on a package. This anxiety is killing me. I’m not sure why. If I don’t get it today I’ll get it tomorrow. Probably.

I have had bad experiences with deliveries that never arrive before. Or get delivered to the wrong address. So maybe it isn’t all paranoia. But the anxiety is killing me.

    Optional anxiety, surely.

I’m listening to Who? Weekly and half paying attention to them answering calls about pop culture.

They’re currently ranking the ingredients for Trader Joe’s everything but the bagel seasoning from ‘who’ to ‘them’.

I got some of those tabs that make the toilet water blue. The color doesn’t make it cleaner it just lets you know when to replace the bleach tablet. But in my Mind, it makes it cleaner.

I just peeked out the window because I heard a noise and thought it might be the FedEx truck. No. The grade school kids are home from school.

As a kid I would sometimes stay up all night on Christmas Eve watching the marathon of A Christmas Story dry heaving from anxiety in anticipation about what I might and might not be unwrapping the next morning.

There are so many bees around the windows.

Almost 4:00PM and still no package.

I could have gone in for a half day at work after I was feeling better at this point. The package wasn’t even Supposed to be here until tomorrow anyway. They updated it to today. Sorry for getting the blue one that wasn’t in the store.

My neighbor is moving in August. He won’t even be here this summer at all, really. He’s a law student and goes home to North Carolina on breaks.

Fair enough. He’s met enough people in his first year to go somewhere and split expenses in a location that sucks a lot less than here with a lot better accommodations. But now I’ll have anxiety about rolling the neighbor dice again.

I wonder why they always put the white guys next door to each other.

I know personal blogs are boring and I’ll write about media and culture here soon. It’s why I made this silly little website after all. A place to put stuff no one will read.

I’m permanently banned from Google ads because after paying me a hundred bucks they said my interviews with porn stars constituted porn. So I’m fine with just not making money off of it. But that means it gets to just morph into what I need it to be whenever I want.

And. Where the fuck is that FedEx driver?

I was lying before when I said it was nearly four. It was 3:45. But now it is actually four and I’m starting to think of all the things my FedEx driver Marcus might be doing.

I go to Google how late FedEx delivers packages and see that it’s in my search history.

Maybe I should take a nap. Then when I get up it might be on my doorstep. Or maybe someone will have stolen it. Or maybe it will get too hot. I simply cannot have that.

I think my neighbor is doing laundry.

It only matters because every time I hate him on the stairs I think it’s Marcus.

Marcus is probably just overloaded with packages today.

Or maybe he had a family emergency. His little cousin that he and his wife had to take in after her mother Stacey went to jail for check fraud has the flu. My head would be all over the place. That’s probably what’s happening. God, I hope little Lilly’s gonna be okay.

It’s also possible that he’s an old nemesis from grade school that I can’t remember. I did know a Marcus in middle school. He got married to a girl I had a bit of a crush on once upon a time. Maybe he saw my name and still holds a grudge for me liking his girl all those years ago. He’s gonna let my packages slip under the seat for a few days then make sure it gets good and banged up before I finally get a shredded remnant of blue aluminum in May.

By the way, don’t eat French fries that you accidentally let thaw out overnight. You might have to live next to your toilet for a few hours.

Listen. It’s a Long month so there’s almost an extra week than normal between my paychecks.

I’m gonna go refresh the tracking page.

My package is out for delivery. No longer an estimated time. My anxiety spiked.

Nothing. Maybe the war in Iran has made gas so expensive that Marcus is stranded on I-85 as the world slowly slips into chaos.

I wouldn’t know, I haven’t voluntarily watched the news in six months.

The world is on fire but I can’t stop binging some weird British tv show or another that I can never convince any of my friends to watch with me.

Shout out to my sister who is giving me a bunch of cat food so my cats won’t starve until payday. Google Photos auto generated this montage of us:

Holy shit it’s only been seven minutes?

    Where fuck is Marcus?

They upped my anxiety meds. They’re clearly working gangbusters.

Is it too late to redirect him to the FedEx store? Walgreens?

    I hear a hydraulic brake!

    It’s fucking UPS 🙁

A UPS truck in my apartment complex.

Do y’all strain ramen before adding in the some of seasoning sachet or do you let the noodles cook in it?

I do a little of each usually, I do strain them before eating, though. Ramen isn’t a soup in this household.

More deceiving brakes in the neighborhood. This time just a minivan that badly needs to be serviced.

    I believe in you Marcus.

We can get through this together.

I peer out my window after going pee just in case. Nothing.

Talking about Mortal Kombat movies in the group chat with Jacob and Tate. I love the first one because of watching it as a kid.

My cousin Elizabeth had the soundtrack and I thought those electronic songs were so cool. We would ride to the pool for the apartment complex my family lived in while listening to it.

Jacob and I are now scheming an elaborate plan to track Marcus down and procure my package ourselves.

How come only some packages get GPS tracking the day of delivery some of the time and others never have it?

I guess to stop people from going to them and asking for the package early.

IDK. I just need Marcus to get his ass over her already. What’s taking you so much longer than usual.

I’ve had to rush home in my lunch break so no one would steal my new phone twice now.

Now I miss those days we had, Marcus.

I’m giving up and just assuming I’m gonna have to deal with some FedEx bullshit.

Time for a beer and some video games.

    🙁

    Update 3/28 @ 9:26 AM:

    Come on Anthony
    I believe in you!

Marcus meant NOTHING to me. It’s all about me and you, baby. Us against the world! 🙂

    Update 3/28 @ 4:28 PM:

It has now been re-rescheduled to Monday. Apparently they left the apartment number off of my shipping address and this is why it’s been back and froth so many times. Hate it here.

Today was a relatively good day.

I might have to partially bullshit my standup update tomorrow morning, but i might be able to scrape enough stuff out of my notes. That’s a problem for tomorrow me.

I’m unwinding for the night. Watched a couple episodes of Sex and the City for the first time as i slowly work my way through the first season. And now i’m settled in to an episode of The Gentlemen because I want to catch up before the new season drops.

Although, I’m liable to put this weeks WWE Raw back on since Jacob and I only got about half way through it earlier.

Jacob holding a football. Shot from above.

He also added me to his Steam family while he was over and I’m pretty excited to play some of the games he can loan me now. ☺️

Although, to be honest, I’m probably gonna be glued to Pokopia and 2K26 in my spare time for some time to come.

As Jacob was leaving, I noticed my neighbor Isaac on the porch so I stepped out to say hi. We’ve been caring for some of the neighborhood cats and HP, an orange gentleman that Isaac’s girlfriend named Handsome Pumpkin, bound up the stairs as Jacob was heading to the car.

my neighbor and I may have adopted the street cats in the neighborhood

So I decided to pop a squat and had some lovely neighborly bonding time while playing with an orange cat who was an absolute fucking Slut for skritches behind the ears.

And now I’m yawning on my couch like an old man as I get ready to move into the bedroom for the evening.

I didn’t switch back over to Raw. It’s WrestleMania season after all. The time of the year where they should ostensibly be pulling out all the stops.

    IDK, it’s alright I guess.

like sure, the 90s was cool but can we not go back to having the liberal party led by anti-queer charismatic assholes? please? pretty please? 🥺

    schweg, (@schwegler.lol) 2026-03-26T12:37:24.841Z

Meanwhile, they increased my SNRI to 60 Mg from 30. Been about a week. Lots of dry mouth the first few days but that’s all good now. I have noticed lower anxiety so that’s definitely a boon.

I’ve been more able to enjoy things without overthinking them—at least when I’m sober, lmfao. But I have definitely had a really good week. So I’ll take what I can get.

I feel like less of an observer and more of a participant in life. 🙂 💜

My March has been an interesting one.

At work i’ve been fighting a fire that keeps reigniting from its embers every few days. The stress has a lot. And i’m two men down on a four man team.

That’s an overstatement of course. But out contractor that’s been on a year has been underwhelming and the newest hire still isn’t fully onboarded. So it definitely feels that way.

I’ll be honest tho. It’s been oddly reassuring of my own skills. Which is weird but at least my imposter syndrome is on hiatus.

While writing this i’m getting caught up on The Pitt. I love how this show can suck you in each and every hour.

Jacob just left. He had to head home after his girlfriend got jealous that he got McDonald’s without her.

    And, honestly? Fair.

He was over because I point blank told him i needed him to be. First call in on that one in our friendship. But I had a really good excuse: I had been in the middle of an FBI man hunt for most of the day.

My nephew, Sammy, decided to make a run for it through a child safe lock on the front door of my sister’s house while his dad was making him breakfast.

Ok, so it wasn’t quite a man hunt man hunt as it was a non-verbal autistic 6 year old hint. But, honestly this was probably more stressful.

I texted every single person I knew in the area asking them to keep an eye out. We had at least 7 DL dudes from Grindr on the case along with the young adult congregation from the local Six Flags Over Jesus.

Thank the sweet lord above, they found him relatively near by and mostly unscathed. He got into it with an ant nest from the looks of it and will be slathered in cream for quite a while. But I’m a million times happier than the alternatives we were all forced to be thinking about in the few hours he was gone.

And don’t get me fucking started on how hot the FBI agent was. 🥺

    Jacob’s birthday was Monday.

We spent a good chunk of the evening together and saw some great local comics. I don’t talk about blessings often but i’m truly blessed to have that man in my life. He always knows how to handle me at my worst and how to amplify my best.

Here’s to his 25th year around the sun.

When I was 24, I was filled with so much hope. He’s truly poised for greatness. He preaches to me the things i preach to him and we would both be better off if we followed our own advice.

On the media front, I’ve fallen way behind on British soaps. I do love a good binge when it comes to those, so i’m fine with it. I just feel like i’m wasting my BritBox subscription.

American Dad is back on Fox. I’m caught up now and it’s still hitting in all four quadrants for me. I’m not sure why but it’s the one Seth McFarlane show I could watch Anytime. The Fox part is just good because it means i can watch it via Hulu now.

Pokopia has been my main game this month. That and WWE 2K26. A very cute life sim where you can do anything you want and a cash grab wrestling game that I still really enjoy playing for some reason.

I stopped watching Drag Race. 5th year in a row that I dipped out before the end. Nothing specific happened. But, the March Game episode didn’t help—it’s honestly that i hate having to use my Spectrum Cable app to watch it.

The Pitt ended on a crazy cliffhanger. A shocker to no one. But, also… a fucking head lock? In a hospital bed?!

The first new episode of The Comeback auto played. This show is so fucking good. Definitely my plan for the rest of tonight before I go to bed at 10:30 like an old man.

The gallery at the top is a smattering of pictures from the month. It’s been a good one so far, even if it’s the month with a the longest stretch between paychecks for me. 😞

Goodnight, internet. I hope tomorrow treats you well. 💜

I’ve been doing some totally unscientific research on streaming service ad loads lately, and honestly, the results are both fascinating and infuriating.

As someone who’s had to go ad-supported on pretty much every service to save money, I’ve become intimately familiar with just how wildly different the advertising experience can be from platform to platform. What started as casual observation during my recent Buffy rewatch has turned into a full-blown comparison project.

    12. Mickey (NOM)

Keanu continues to be messy, but in an entertaining way. Whenever I think I’m gonna drop Ava down a few notches, she pops up to spit straight facts. More solo Katherine time on feeds always endears me to her. Kelley not having a filter continues to be amazing. Will needs to wake the fuck up and play. Ashley needs to shut the fuck up and play less. The bump Vince had for wearing an egg suit last week has also faded and in his desperation, his pressure campaign on Lauren to use the veto has been Gross.

During my WFH for COVID this last week, I’ve been rewatching Season 1 of Buffy in the background. I used to rewatch Buffy every year, along with Angel and 30 Rock, but it’s been several years since I’ve actually pulled it off. On top of that, I usually skip Season 1 and jump to Season 2 most times.

But I’ve been pretty hype about the new reboot going into production at Hulu, so watching the origins again seems like the right call. So far, I’m actually loving that it’s been a while. I’m finding myself drawn in to the story all over again.

    https://bsky.app/profile/schwegler.lol/post/3lw7zfqlmak2z

The one thing that I’ve found most weird: I’m watching it on Tubi because I’ve finally had to go ad-supported on all my services to save money. So, why Tubi when I have Hulu? Because Hulu has been consistently the worst SVOD service when it comes to ad load. So much so that I only really watch it through Disney+ because then at least the Hulu Originals use the < 6 minutes of ads per hour mark that the rest of Disney+ uses–no dice for the acquired/library content like Buffy, though.

I was getting 2 minute ad blocks every 10 minutes no matter what while trying to watch Buffy. Meanwhile, on Tubi, it’s been about 3 ad blocks under a minute each plus a pre-roll 30 second block per hour. And that’s for no monies.

It makes me want to make up a chart comparing ad-load so I have a quick reference for where to watch something when it’s available multiple places.
