A Thai palace has a succession problem, an Indonesian grandfather has a skill set, and the Metro tunnels have acquired better lighting. None of this sounds restful.

the throne comes with a fire hazard

Netflix’s new Empress of Flames trailer previews a six-episode Thai epic arriving worldwide December 3, from the creators of Master of the House. Director Sivaroj Kongsakul’s reimagining pairs palace rivalries with newly built kingdoms and costumes rooted in Southeast Asian craftsmanship. For anyone whose preferred soap opera has an actual throne to fight over, the production design is making its case.

grandpa has not retired from everything

Never Surrender has a new trailer and a November 12 Netflix date. Lukman Sardi plays a grandfather whose special-forces past becomes relevant when his grandchildren need protection from a criminal syndicate; Sidharta Tata directs the Indonesian action film, set in Central Java. The family reunion appears to have skipped directly past awkward small talk.

the apocalypse gets a frame-rate upgrade

Metro Redux’s free Xbox Series X|S update is out today, refreshing both Metro 2033 and Last Light with revised textures, lighting and controller feedback. 4A advertises true 4K at 60fps or upscaled 4K at 120fps, plus Xbox Play Anywhere and Ally support. This is an update for the existing games, not a free copy of them—a useful distinction before heading underground.

the chatbot finally lets you move the furniture

Google says Gemini can now generate, preview and edit files inside a chat, including direct manual edits and highlighted requests for changes. PDF editing works on web and mobile; Docs, Sheets, slides, Markdown, TXT and code support is web-only. Google says the capabilities are available to all users in supported languages. Being able to correct one sentence without renegotiating the entire document is the practical part.

Google’s Gemini demo turns selected table data into a red-and-blue line chart using an inline editing prompt.
