A recall spanning half a century of coffee equipment ends in the cutlery drawer. Check the affected models before stirring. Read more

Bodum’s French press recall covers products sold from 1974 through October 2026. That is an impressive amount of breakfast to fit into one notice.

The October 29 recall concerns 5.9 million presses with certain 8- and 12-cup replaceable glass carafes. CPSC says damaged or cracked glass can break during use, creating a serious burn risk; metal stirring utensils can cause that damage.

The remedy is a plastic stirring spoon and a warning label. Half a century of coffee equipment, and the corrective hardware fits in the cutlery drawer.

Check your model against the CPSC recall notice. Stop stirring with metal utensils immediately, don’t use damaged carafes, and contact Bodum for the remedy. The notice identifies the affected Bistro, Brazil, Caffettiera, Chambord, Crema, Java, Jesper and Kenya models.
