_VisionQuest_ has reached the part of the family history that requires arrows. Eric
Diaz’s Nerdist explainer traces the Butcherbird story back through Marvel’s comics,
where creating a robot rarely produces a manageable relationship.

Spoilers through episode 4 in the linked article. [Read the comics-history explainer at Nerdist.](https://nerdist.com/article/visionquest-mcu-series-butcherbird-marvel-comics-history-jocasta/)

A useful companion read once you’re caught up: it separates the character’s comics
origins from the television version, rather than treating decades of continuity
as a single instruction manual. Keep the diagram handy. Ultron has been busy.
