**what to watch tonight · friday, october 23**

Tonight offers an impulsive marriage, a gentleman thief with an identity problem,
and a dinner party that could have been an email. Three options. None require turning
the evening into a completionist exercise.

This is a short US watchlist. Broadcast times are **Eastern/Central**; the on-demand
picks are available today. Subscriptions may be required.

## 8:30/7:30c: newlyweds has skipped several sensible steps

**NBC · series premiere tonight. Peacock gets it tomorrow.**

Téa Leoni and Tim Daly play Jeanie and James, a free spirit and a buttoned-up professor
who marry after a whirlwind courtship. The next assignment is learning to live with
each other’s friends, family, and existing arrangements. Romance has completed the
fun paperwork; the household has follow-up questions.

This is the appointment on tonight’s list: **8:30 p.m. Eastern, 7:30 Central**.

## new today: lupin would like to dispute the evidence

**Netflix · Part 4, all eight episodes available now.**

Omar Sy returns as Assane Diop, the gentleman thief inspired by Arsène Lupin. The
new batch puts his name on a run of museum heists he says he did not commit. Having
a recognizable criminal brand apparently comes with customer-service problems.

This is the caper option, and the whole new batch has arrived together. Returning
viewers can start Part 4; newcomers should begin with Part 1 rather than make the
recap do a full-time job. [Watch Lupin](https://www.netflix.com/title/80994082) ·

## new to streaming: the invite has overbooked the living room

**HBO Max · streaming today. HBO’s linear showing is tomorrow, Saturday, at 8/7c.**

Olivia Wilde directs and stars alongside Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz, and Edward Norton.
A married couple invite their upstairs neighbors over for dinner while their own
relationship is on thin ice. Four adults, one room, several reasons to reconsider
being sociable.

Choose this for a movie-length commitment rather than a new season. The useful distinction
is the platform: **HBO Max has it today**; the scheduled HBO channel premiere is
October 24. [Watch on HBO Max](https://www.hbomax.com/) · [Official US availability and film details](https://press.wbd.com/us/media-release/a24s-invite-begins-streaming-exclusively-hbo-max-october-23).
